2.1. Mang nghĩa"cố gắng làm gì"
=to attempt to do something
IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:
- Với nghĩa này, try vừa là nội động từ, vừa là ngoại động từ
- try to do something
- try and do something
- try doing something
- try your best/hardest (to do something)
- try hard
- try hard/desperately to do something
- try and try (=keep trying)

- I know she’s not very helpful, but she does try.
- Don’t try any of your tricks with me!
- Just try to stay calm.
- I will try and get the report to you today.

- She tried talking about it to Steve, but he wouldn’t listen.

- He was trying desperately not to laugh.
- Jamie tried and tried and eventually he got a job.

=to attempt to open something such as a door or window, especially in order to see whether it is locked

2.3. Mang nghĩa"thử làm gì"
=to do something in order to find out what happens, or to find out whether something is good, suitable, effective etc/if you try a food or drink, you taste it in order to find out whether you like it

- try something on someone
- try something for size (=put on a piece of clothing in order to see whether it fits)
- try something new/different (with something)

- Try adding cornflour to thicken the sauce a bit.
- The drug isn’t ready to be tried on humans yet.

2.4. Mang nghĩa"đi đến đâu đó để thử"
=to go to a particular place hoping to find someone or something

2.5. Mang nghĩa"xét xử (phiên toà)"
=to judge a person or case in a court of law

=to attempt to talk to someone because they might be able to help you or to give you information
