1. Mang nghĩa "không thành công, không đi đến đâu"
=to be unsuccessful when you try to do something
- fail to do something
- fail in (fail in your duty/obligation)

- They have failed to come up with any practical solutions.
- He failed in his attempt to get compensation.
- Attempts to revive him failed.
- It looks as if the negotiations are going to fail.
- He failed to come home at the usual time.

2. Mang nghĩa "làm gì không đạt như yêu cầu, rớt, tạch kì thi"
=if someone fails you, they do not do what they promised or what you trusted them to do

- The political system has failed us.
- She failed all her exams.
- The new plane failed a safety test. I failed on the written part of my driving test.
Fail nếu dùng như ngoại động từ mang nghĩa "đánh rớt" (to decide that someone or something has not achieved a satisfactory score or standard)

3. Mang nghĩa "hư hỏng"

4. Mang nghĩa "sức khoẻ giảm sút"
=if someone’s health is failing, they are becoming weak and less able to do things

5. Mang nghĩa "công ty phá sản"
=if something such as a business or a relationship fails, it has a lot of problems and can no longer continue
