1. Mang nghĩa "làm việc"
=to have a job, usually one that you are paid to do

- I hope to work in marketing when I’m older.

- He worked the clubs long before TV made him famous.
2. Mang nghĩa "nỗ lực, bỏ công sức, đang làm"
=to spend time trying to achieve something, especially when this involves using a lot of effort

3. Mang nghĩa "tiến hành, tiến triển; có kết quả, có hiệu lực"
=to operate in a satisfactory way / to have a particular effect or result

- work với nghĩa này là nội động từ, thường + adv/giới từ
- work for/against someone (=have a good/bad result)
- work in someone’s favour/work to someone’s advantage (=be an advantage to someone)

- The strategy seems to be working.
- If this plan doesn’t work, we’ll think of something else
- Her idea for reorganizing the department will never work in practice.
- The tablets will start to work in a few minutes.
- Some people think I'm weird doing meditation, but it works for me and that's all that matters.
- Arguably, the monarchy worked well for many centuries.
4. Mang nghĩa "vận hành"
=to operate something such as a machine or piece of equipment / If a machine or device works, it operates, especially correctly and without failure, and if you work it, you make it operate

- Our phone isn't working.

- You need a team of about twelve people to work a furnace this size.
- The pump works off/on (= uses) wind power.

- I can't get the radio to work.
6. Mang nghĩa "bắt ai làm việc"
=to make a person or animal do a job:

7. Mang nghĩa "gia công, chế biến"
=to shape, change, or process a substance
