II. Cách dùng
1. Mang nghĩa "sự kết thúc, cuối"
1.1. Về mặt thời gian / thời điểm
=the final part of a period of time at the end of something / the time when a situation, event, or series of events stops

- the very end
- at the end of something
- the end of the world
- an end to something
- no end in sight to something (=something seems likely to continue)

- You’re going on holiday at the end of this month, aren’t you?
- The work should be completed by the end of the year.
- It was only at the very end of the 19th century that this practice was abolished.
- Are you going to stay till the end of the game?
- This agreement could mean the end of the nuclear threat.
- At the end of the war the government made many promises for a better future.
- Astrologers have been predicting the end of the world ever since the Middle Ages.
- We want to put an end to discrimination.
- There is still no end in sight to the slaughter and the suffering.
1.2. Về mặt vật chất
=the final part of something such as a book, film, or piece of music

2. Mang nghĩa "đầu, đầu mút (dây...); đuôi; đáy (thùng...) đoạn cuối, điểm cuối"
=the place that is furthest away from the centre of a long area or object

3. Mang nghĩa "mục đích"
=the reason for a particular action or the result you want to achieve

4. Mang nghĩa "giới hạn"
=the part that you have in an activity or situation

=one of two places connected by a telephone conversation, letter, or journey at the other end
