1. Impose dùng như ngoại động từ
1.1. ( to impose something on / upon somebody / something ) đánh (thuế...) ai/cái gì; bắt ai/cái gì phải làm/chịu cái gì; áp đặt
=to officially force a rule, tax, punishment, etc. to be obeyed or received

- Very high taxes have recently been imposed on cigarettes.
- Judges are imposing increasingly heavy fines for minor driving offences.
- The council has imposed a ban on alcohol in the city parks.
- to impose heavy taxes upon luxuries (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: đánh thuế nặng vào hàng xa xỉ)
- to impose a fine , term of imprisonment (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: bắt nộp tiền phạt, bắt phải chịu một thời hạn tù)
- to impose strict regulations on imports (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: áp đặt những quy định nghiêm ngặt đối với hàng nhập khẩu)
- to impose one's rule on a people (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: đặt ách cai trị lên một dân tộc)
1.2. ( to impose oneself something on somebody ) buộc ai phải chấp nhận điều gì đó
=to force someone to accept something, especially a belief or way of living

- I don't want them to impose their religious beliefs on my children.
- We must impose some kind of order on the way this office is run.
- to impose classical methods on his inferiors (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: bắt thuộc cấp của mình phải làm theo phương pháp cổ điển)
- he has never thought of imposing himself on his offspring (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: ông ấy chưa bao giờ nghĩ đến việc buộc con cái phải tuân theo mình răm rắp)
- she imposed her presence on me for my birthday party (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: cô ta buộc tôi phải để cô ta có mặt trong tiệc sinh nhật của tôi)
2. Impose dùng như nội động từ
( to impose on / upon somebody / something ) lạm dụng; lợi dụng
