II. Cách dùng
1. Mang nghĩa "ý kiến cá nhân"
=the thing that you are trying to say

- với nghĩa này point là danh từ số ít

- My point is that we’re spending too much time on details and forgetting the big issues.
- What’s your point?
2. Mang nghĩa "điểm, luận điểm"
=an idea or opinion among a number of others

- point by point (=looking at each part separately)
- với nghĩa này point là danh từ đếm được

- I disagree with you on a couple of important points.
- Let’s go over the plan point by point.
3. Mang nghĩa "lý do, bản chất"
=the reason for something point of

- với nghĩa này point là danh từ số ít
- see/get the point (=understand the reason)
- not any/no point

- What is the point of your visit?
- I’m sorry – I just don’t see the point of doing this.
- I see no point in discussing this any further.
4. Mang nghĩa "đặc điểm"
=an aspect or feature

- someone’s strong/weak points
- the finer points (=the details)
- it has its points (=it has some good qualities)

- Subtlety is not one of his strong points.

- I complain about working different hours from everyone else, but it has its points.
5. Mang nghĩa "nơi hoặc vị trí đặc biệt"
=a particular place

- We’ll meet at a point halfway between here and your hotel.
- a point where three different countries meet
6. Mang nghĩa "thời gian hoặc giai đoạn"
=a particular stage in a process / a particular moment in time at this/that point
