II. Cách dùng
1. Mang nghĩa "chữ số; con số"
= a sign or word that represents an amount or quantity. 1, 2, 3 etc and ‘one’, ‘two’, ‘three’ etc are numbers

- odd number (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: số lẻ)
- my telephone number is 8423333 (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: số điện thoại của tôi là 8423333)
- what's the number of your car ? (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: số xe của anh là bao nhiêu?)
- Can you read the numbers on the chart?

2. (viết tắt) là No , no (ký hiệu là #) (dùng trước một con số để chỉ vị trí của cái gì trong một dãy) số
=used for showing the position of something in a series

- As a tennis player, she was rated number one (=the best) in the country.
- The local trains will be arriving at platform number 4.
- Her flat number is 16C.
3. Mang nghĩa "số lượng, tổng số"
=a quantity of people or things

- a small number of shops
- increasing numbers of drivers
- This brings the total number of children to 12.
- Small numbers of children are educated at home.
- Large numbers of invitations were sent.
- Newspapers are produced in vast numbers.
- I decided not to go, for a number of reasons.
