I. Giới thiệu chung
IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:
- "Next" sẽ đóng những chức năng ngữ pháp sau đây:
- Từ hạn định (determiner - sẽ đứng trước noun): (IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ I’ll see you next week)
- Tính từ (adj): (IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ I’m leaving town on the next train hoặc I didn’t realize what had happened until the next day)
- Đại từ (pronoun): (IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ You’re the next in line)
- Trạng từ (adv): (IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ What happens next? hoặc After me, he’s the next tallest boy in the class)
- Trong cụm giới từ "Next to": (IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ Come and sit next to me)
II. Cách dùng từ "next"
1. Mang nghĩa "đến ngay sau ai/cái gì theo thứ tự (trong không gian hoặc thời gian); tiếp sau"
=used for referring to the time, event, action, person etc that comes after this one or after another one
IELTS TUTOR lưu ý cấu trúc:
- the next few weeks/several months/five years etc
- next Tuesday/week/year etc (=the Tuesday, week, year etc that comes after this one)
- Monday/Tuesday etc next (=the Monday, Tuesday etc after this one)

- He said he was leaving for Rome the next day
- Who will be the next president? (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: ai sẽ là tổng thống tiếp theo)
- The next train to arrive at platform three is the 10.40 to Liverpool.
- I’ll call you the next time I’m in town.
- Who’s next in the queue?
- I’ll be busy this week and next.
- When I next spoke with him, he told me he had got married.
- I knew exactly what was going to happen next.
- First, peel the fruit. Next, prepare a chocolate sauce.
- Over the next few weeks I tried to re-organize the office.
- I’ll see you next Friday. The Scottish Parliament elections take place next May
- The ceremony will take place on Monday next.
2. Mang nghĩa "bên cạnh, sát bên"
=used for referring to the place that is closest to where you are
