I. Giới thiệu chung
IELTS TUTOR lưu ý:
- Many sẽ đóng chức năng ngữ pháp như sau:
- Từ hạn định (determiner): theo sau là danh từ số nhiều
- IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: It happened many years ago / How many children have you? / Many of you will be going on to university.
- Đại từ (pronoun)
- IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: ‘Did he write any other books?’ ‘Not many.’
- Từ chỉ định (predeterminer): thường + a hoặc danh từ số ít

- Danh từ (noun): hay dùng "the many"

II. Cách dùng từ "many" tiếng anh
1. Mang nghĩa "nhiều, lắm"
=a large number of people, things, places etc

- too many:
- a good many (=a fairly large number)
- many many (=a very large number)
- a great many (=a very large number)
- not very many (=only a few)
- many a (=more than a few)
- many hundreds/thousands/millions
- so many

- I haven’t told many people that I am pregnant.
- I’ve been to their house many times.
- In many cases workers were being employed without a written contract.

- The news will bring joy to many.
- Many of the world’s leading doctors have been trained here in Edinburgh.
- There are too many rules and regulations.
- We’ve lived here for a good many years.
- It all happened many many years ago.
- He was asked a great many questions and answered them all.
- Not very many companies can afford the high cost of introducing new technology.
- No doubt she had many a tale to tell of the old days.
- Many thousands of animals died in the floods.
- The scientists have been proved wrong so many times that people no longer believe them.
2. ( the many ) phần lớn mọi người; quần chúng
=the majority of people

- in capitalist countries , the many have to labour for the few (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: trong các nước tư bản, số đông phải lao động cho một thiểu số)
- I don’t see why the many should suffer because of the few idiots who cause trouble.
